A huge thank you to everyone who visited and supported my recent solo exhibition, ‘Enclosure Acts’ at Sou’-Sou’-West Contemporary Arts Gallery in Symondsbury. It was a tremendous success, with eight original paintings sold, plus lots of limited edition prints, coasters and hand-made cards. There have also been resulting commissions and three pieces (‘Around Colmers Hill’, ‘Across to Colmers Hill’ And ‘Morcombelake, Evening’) are in the gallery for sale following the exhibition. It was truly joyous and exhilarating to see walls full of the Enclosure Acts series together for the first time.
I received some fantastic feedback and comments, including:
“Striking and thought-provoking and jolting of awareness - like good art should” and
“Such a distinctive style to highlight such a serious matter.” (The main theme of this exhibition was the Right to Roam movement https://www.righttoroam.org.uk/ which is gaining momentum and, rightly, attention.)
Prints Available
Some of my most popular pieces (including 'View to Eype and Charmouth' and 'Cerne Abbas Giant') are now available as prints. Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Workshops
I will be co-delivering two workshops for Dorset AONB’s ‘Green Space, Dark Skies’ on Saturday 2nd July from 6pm - 8pm at Maiden Castle, Dorchester and Sunday 3rd July from 2.30pm - 4.30pm at West Bay, Bridport. Further details will be on www.dorsetaonb.org.uk
Summer Exhibitions
Evolver Prize 2022, Ace Arts, Somerton (2nd - 30th July)
I’m delighted to have been selected as a runner-up for the prestigious Evolver Prize! My work ‘(Enclosure Acts) Progress?’ (painted specifically for entry into the magazine cover competition) will be in the Top 50 Exhibition and published in Evolver Magazine (July/August 2022, issue 126). Evolver magazine is the Wessex Arts and Culture Guide, read by around 50,000 people.
Unique Framecraft, Axminster (1st - 27th August)
I will be having a solo exhibition at Unique Framecraft in Axminster. This is a fantastic framing workshop and hugely supportive of local artists. I will be exhibiting mainly new larger pieces.
English Riviera Summer Exhibition, Artizan Gallery, Torquay (25th June - 7th August)
I have three pieces in this exhibition (plus two in reserve), which is a glorious gallery space showcasing an incredible variety of artworks.
Wiltshire Creative Summer Open Exhibition at Salisbury Arts Centre (12 July - 3 September)
I have a piece of work accepted ('Surrounding Colmers' Hill') for the wonderful Wiltshire Summer Open in Salisbury Arts Centre, which is a beautiful, new venue for me so am looking forward to that show.
Black Swan Arts Open, Frome (15 July - 11 September)
I have a piece of work accepted ('Chesil Beach') for the fabulous Black Swan Arts in Frome. I was fortunate to exhibit here in 2019 ('Catch 22', a kinetic sculpture) so can't wait to exhibit one of my larger paintings in this space!
