Hello!
I hope you’ve had a lovely summer and enjoyed the glorious sunshine? I’ve been out and about taking photographs, making sketches and notes (ready for painting over autumn and winter) and delivering outdoor workshops in Dorset AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
It’s been wonderfully busy with my work in six different spaces across the South West (see ‘art map’ above!):

Two of my pieces from my solo Axminster exhibition have been selected to be shown at Art Unlimited Gallery, Bridport.
A wonderful coincidence happened in the summer: two paintings were bought on the same day, at different outlets, both for the buyer’s husband’s birthday as a surprise! (Feedback is that both were delighted too!)
Stepping into Nature
It has been a privilege to be working over the last year with Dorset AONB’s ‘Your Seasons of Stories’ project to deliver workshops in Dorset communities and co-create a resource pack alongside a storyteller, poet and fellow visual artist.
The resources are free to access and available online as downloadable PDFs and short films, plus a high quality limited edition resource box continuing five themed activity cards, inspirational poster artwork, stories and poetry and an artist materials starter kit. I was also commissioned to create four pieces of artwork as part of the project and developed an ‘Infinity Landscape’, across the seasons. Reproductions of this are in the resource box, available as a downloadable PDF and will be displayed at a forthcoming exhibition celebrating the Stepping into Nature project at Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester.
| Art in Care Homes I am working in six different West Dorset care homes delivering art sessions, which I thoroughly enjoy. Recent subjects have included ‘Sheep in the style of Henry Moore’, Bees, Butterflies and Dragonflies, ‘Fruit in the style of Paul Cezanne’ and in the last few weeks to pay our respects ‘Sunsets’ and ‘Symbolic Leaves (Rosemary and Oak)’. Finally…Greetings cards, coasters and selected artworks are available at Sou’-Sou’- West Gallery, Symondsbury and Limited Edition Giclee prints on my website (www.sarahjaneross.com/shop).
