Hello!
I think Autumn is my favourite season, especially as a time for reflection on a busy summer. I’ve been exploring new avenues and outlets for my work, including the wonderful Bridport Art Market which was a really successful day.
Commissioned Artwork
I have just finished this commissioned piece: ‘View from Charmouth: Rise’ for a client, who spends a lot of time in or by the water. Their response was, very happily: “I absolutely love it! It couldn’t be more perfect!”
I am happy to consider commissions, large or small, please do get in touch. Commissions for a special occasion are a really special gift – as I paint, I honestly feel that each individual brushstroke is purely for the recipient. It can be a lovely process for both commissioner and artist and I am happy to work from a specific brief (e.g. colour palette to match a room) or something looser, and any size. Landscapes are my specialism but will consider other subjects (except portraits, sorry!).
Exhibitions
I’m delighted to be a Finalist in Art Unlimited’s international open art competition with my popular artwork ‘Nightswimming (Sturgeon Moon)’. The exhibition is taking place until 28th September at Bridport Arts Centre.
Workshops
I delivered a workshop for Mounty SEN School on behalf of Asker Meadows Nature Reserve at the end of last term in which we created a collaborative river in the morning, then beautiful trees in the afternoon. The participants were responding to their many visits to the Nature Reserve and considered how the setting made them feel, what they saw, what they heard.
For Bridport Art Centre’s ‘What is Beautiful’ (until end of September) I was asked to deliver a workshop on this theme in one of my care homes.
Excitingly, one of my care homes was invited to exhibit their art work at Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery in August, which was a hugely rewarding experience for everyone involved. There was even a sale! It was a great success and we are already talking about doing it again next year.

Over the last few months, residents have been creating a wide variety of artwork, including mixed media seahorses, charcoal trees, elephants in graphite, peacocks in ink and works inspired by David Hockney.
My web shop has been updated . Some of these new artworks and products are available on my website: www.sarahjaneross.com/shop
Enjoy all of Autumn’s delights!
